Louis Agassiz Fuertes (1874-1927), was an American artist, illustrator and ornithologist who set the modern day bar for ornithological art and naturalist depiction of birds and is considered one of the most prolific American Bird Artists of all-time. He is well known for his chromolithographic plates of birds within The Fish and Game of the State of New York: Forest, Fish and Game Commission works between 1896 and 1909. His plates are highly regarded, very detailed and highly collectible.
